Following a year of disruption due to the Pandemic, Ofsted will be resuming their full programme of graded school inspections in autumn 2021. The teaching of children with special educational needs in mainstream schools is an integral part of the new framework. The SENCO will have a key role in the inspection process especially if SEND is selected for greater scrutiny through the “deep dive” process.

The latest Keeping Children Safe in Education statutory safeguarding guidance (September 2021) incorporates the new sections on child on child sexual violence and sexual harassment. This session with consider the updated guidance and how schools should be responding to any concerns or allegations. Like all safeguarding issues this is everyone’s responsibility, particularly headteachers, DSLs and senior leaders.

This course will offer advice and support on managing SEND provision within a mainstream school, giving delegates an update on the position of SEND nationally. Offer strategies and tools to share with staff for effective deployment and considering the use of catch-up premium.

This course explores the potential impact of the new 2021 Early Years Foundation Stage Assessment Practice and Developmental Guidelines. The focus is on supporting teachers to become even more dynamic and creative professionals in being able to balance assessment-informed ‘deliberate practice’ with spontaneous interactions, access assessment opportunities efficiently, leaving time to design-informed provision that provoke children’s natural curiosity.
